Product Prototype
Safe Bet
Freelance engineer for a startup client
States, institutions, and employers set rules about who may wager, and sportsbooks need a clear answer before they take a bet. Safe Bet turns those rules into one of three statuses (prohibited, conditional, or clear) and adds the education, attestation, and records that move someone into compliance. I built the product prototype for a startup client in 2026, with workspaces for regulators, sportsbook operators, educators, students, and college athletes, all running on typed demo data.

Highlights
What stood out
- A cascading rules engine where the most restrictive rule wins, across seven registry categories of people barred from wagering.
- Operators get a legal citation rather than the reason a person is listed, so a check reveals as little as possible.
- Six role views (admin, operator, educator, high school student, learner, college athlete) switched from one "View as" control.
- A curriculum across five domains (recognition, reasoning, influence, vulnerability, protection), with a presenter mode for educators and certificates for learners.
- 20 spec files covering the rules engine and the registry categories.
